Telecom Foundation and NUST Collab to launch IT workshops for professionals

In a significant move to foster technological excellence and academic–industry synergy, the Institute of Professional Training (IPT), Telecom Foundation, and the School of Interdisciplinary Engineering and Sciences (SINES), NUST, signed a Document of Understanding (DoU) on June 26, 2025, at SINES, NUST, Islamabad.


The signing ceremony was attended by Syed Zomma Mohiuddin, President & CEO, Telecom Foundation; Dr. Rizwan Riaz, Pro-Rector Research, Innovation and Commercialization (RIC), NUST; Ms. Atifa Ahsan, EVP (HR & Admin) and GM (Social Welfare), Telecom Foundation; Ms. Aliya, EVP (Finance); Mr. Tahshfeen, GM (Business Development), Telecom Foundation; along with other senior representatives from both organizations.


This strategic collaboration, initiated by Telecom Foundation as part of the Foundation’s Vision of bridging the industry-academia gap through state of the art technology tools and world class partners, aims to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world applications by offering high-impact industry tailored training programs, research initiatives, and industry placements. Key focus areas include training on High-Performance Computing (HPC), 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing, Information Security, Cloud Computing, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Joint R&D projects, faculty and student placements, as well as knowledge-based seminars and international conferences.


Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Zomma Mohiuddin stated, “Telecom Foundation’s collaboration with NUST reinforces our mission to drive sustainable innovation through education and technology. By launching advanced and industry tailored workshops in areas like AI, Cloud Computing, and HPC, we are strengthening digital capacity and investing in Pakistan’s future-ready workforce.”


Dr. Rizwan Riaz reaffirmed NUST’s vision, adding, “NUST is proud to partner with Telecom Foundation to deliver specialized IT workshops that align with our mission of innovation-driven education. This collaboration reaffirms our commitment to developing skilled professionals equipped to lead Pakistan’s digital transformation.”


The groundwork for this strategic partnership was meticulously engineered by the Institute of Professional Training (IPT) Telecom Foundation and the School of Interdisciplinary Engineering and Sciences (SINES) at NUST. Spearheaded by Syed Haider Ali, Sr. Manager IPT, and Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Shakoori, Manager IPT, along with Syed Irtaza Ali, Principal & Dean NUST, SINES, and Dr. Tariq Saeed, HOD Dep. of Sciences NUST, SINES, the collaboration translated institutional commitment into actionable plans for delivering cutting-edge IT upskilling programs.


This DoU reflects the shared vision of both institutions to elevate Pakistan’s position in the global innovation landscape through education, research, and societal impact.
